To blog or not to blog

I read about blogs almost every day.  I always thought, "Who has the time?  Who cares what I hae to say?"  Well, I am constantly reflecting on what happens in my classroom: what works, what doesn't, how to structure the class, how to pace.  What better way to reflect on these elements than to have a daily record of what actually happens.  The challenge of course, will be to find the time to post,  With only four minutes in between classes, I don't even have the time to set up equipment, erase the board, go to the bathroom, let alone record the details of the previous class.  Herein lies the central problem of in education today.  I think there are many contributing factors to the deplorable conditions of schools, the oppressive working conditions and expectations for teachers, and the clear disrespect and misunderstanding for the profession, but for me at least, if I simply had the time to do what I need to do to be an effective educator, I would be far better able to endure these inadequacies.

Great points...particularly an opportunity to at least be effective. What kind of idiot would go into teaching for the money?
All that matters is having some success...intrinsic payday
take care...I hope you stick it out though maybe not based on your comments. For me there are always around 150 new young minds waiting every fall for something other than apathetic educators.

Are you a teacher as well? I hope my posts don't sound "apathetic." I was frustrated, yes, but never apathetic. I am on sabbatical from teaching this year, and I am not sure if I will go back. I feel like a human being again, not a machine. I have been putting my interests and talents to work as a volunteer for my son's school.
